This was given free to attendees at the August 23, 1998 Chicago Cubs versus Houston Astros baseball game. The package front has “Limited Edition Chicago Cubs” text and team logo where the line name would be but is otherwise the same as the standard Lingerie line packaging. Mattel and Chicago Cubs continued collaborating. A doll dressed in a different outfit was given to game attendees July 29, 1999 and August 1, 2000. Mattel released an entire Major League Baseball series of dolls including Chicago Cubs in 1999 as part of the Barbie Collectibles doll line. The copyright date on the dolls is 1999 and it was released in 1999, this is common for Limited Edition dolls, but unusual for those included in the Mattel USA Vendor Catalogs.
